Jaipur, Dec 17 (UNI) Rajasthan Civil Supplies Minister Kirorial Meena sent his resignation letter to Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and BJP state president Dr Mahesh Sharma through his wife last night.
Golma, wife of Mr Meena, said, ''I am carrying the resignation letter of my husband,'' adding ''My husband could not personally come to hand over the letter to the Chief Minister as he is not keeping well.'' The move came a day before the Justice Jasraj Chopra Committee, constituted to study the Gujjar demand for reservation in Scheduled Tribe category, was to submit its report to the Chief Minister.
Dr Sharma, while confirming the receipt of a letter from Ms Golma, said it could not be considered as his resignation letter, and refused to divulge the details of the letter.
''Ms Golma handed over a long letter but I can say with certianty that it is not a resignation letter,'' said Dr Sharma.
Mr Meena was not immediately available for comment.
Meanwhile, the Justice Jasraj Chopra Committee which was constituted after the June 4 agreement which helped to end the violent agitation spearhead by the Gujjar Arakshan Sangarsh Samiti, submitted its report today.
The committee was to submit the report on December 15 to the Chief Minister, but was unable to do so as Ms Raje was out of Jaipur on Saturday due to prior engagement.
The date of submitting the report had been rescheduled for Monday.
The 192 page report along with a 102 page annuxre was handed over to the Chief Minsiter today morning at about 1145 hrs.
All the three committee members -- Chairman Justice (retd) Jasraj Chopra, Prof Yogesh Atal and T Srinivasan were present. Cabinet Ministers Dr Digamber Singh, Madan Dilawar and Gulab Chand Kataria were also present on the occasion.
