Siliguri, Dec 17 (UNI) Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) Chairman Subhas Ghisingh today said his meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on according Sixth Schedule status to Darjeeling hills was fruitful.
Talking to newsmen after the meeting here, Mr Ghisingh said, '' I had a very fruitful talk with Mr Bhattacharjee. '' Reiterating that if there was any delay of the Sixth Schedule status, the entire hills would be in flames, the DGHC supremo said he would go to Delhi before the Budget session.
Mr Ghisingh alleged that the Fifth Schedule had created much confusion and misunderstanding and came down heavily on the Opposition for trying to hinder the Sixth Schedule status.
Commenting on Gorkhaland, he said, '' It is a political and sentimental issue, '' and iterated that had he not been at the helm of the DGHC, the latter could have split much earlier.
