Patiala, Dec 17 (UNI) In a closely contested match, DMW, Patiala, defeated Black Elephant (MES), Patiala, by 28 runs in the final match of the inaugural Punjab Today Foundation Cup (Under-12) here yesterday at the Army Cricket ground.
DMW won the toss and batting first, scored 163 runs in the allotted 40 overs. Sanvir played a fine knock of 60 which contained 6 fours. Anmol Malhotra also played a useful innings of 46, which was studded with 6 fours. For Black Elephant, Anmolpreet Singh and Gurtek Singh took 2 wickets each, giving away 19 and 31 runs respectively.
In reply, Black Elephant were all out for 135 in 35.5 overs.
Anmolpreet Singh was the star performer with the bat, scoring 70 runs in style, but could not save his team from defeat. For DMW, Karan Sharma bowled well to capture 4 for 24, while Gopal took 2 for 15.
Anmol Malhotra of DMW won the best batsman of the Tournament while Karan Sharma of DMW was declared the best bowler, Anmolpreet Singh of Black Elephant the best fielder and Abhinav Mehta of Black Elephant the best wicketkeeper.
