Lucknow, Dec 17 (UNI) After Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati shot off a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding special package for the drought-hit Bundelkhand region, the BJP today demanded package for the region to deal with the serious situation prevailing there.

BJP leaders lead by Legislature party leader Om Prakash Singh met state governor T V Rajeswar and handed him a memorandum of 11 point charter of demands.

The party said if something was not done immediately for Bundelkhand, then after February, people would die of starvation or they will commit sucide.

The governor has also been urged to direct the BSP government for taking appropriate action to deal with the situation in seven districts of the Bundelkhand region.

The party had assessed the situation following a report of a BJP delegation to the region to learn about the drought situation first hand.
