Hyderabad, Dec 17 (UNI) The fourth phase of the 'land distribution' programme will be launched at Chittoor district on January 19, Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy said today.
Briefing newspersons after the cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy here today, he said about 1.5 lakh acres would be distributed in the programme, which would be launched by the Chief Minister. The programme would be taken up from January 19 to 25 in all Assembly constituencies.
Mr Reddy said the cabinet also approved the distribution of title deeds to all poor farmers and they need not pay for the regularisation of the land as against the K Ranga Rao Committee recommendation that farmers should pay 50 per cent of the total land cost to get the property rights.
The state cabinet ratified to constitute a 'special committee' to study the inclusion of Kapu, Telaga, Balija, Ontari and other 17 castes in Backward Class (BC) list.
The required funds for the implementation of 'Rs 2 per kg rice' scheme, to be launched on 'Telugu New Year Day', would be allocated in 2008-09 budget, he added.
