World War veterans to get Rs 1000 per month in Punjab

Chandigarh, Dec 16 (UNI) Veterans of World War-I and II or widows of those who had fought in either of these two wars would now get a monthly pension of Rs 1000 instead of Rs 500.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the Punjab Cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here today.

There are around 7809 beneficiaries in Punjab who fall in this category all are above 65 years of age.

The Cabinet also approved the implementation of the announcement made by the Chief Minister to give employment to one member each of the families of the three farmers who died during the agitation against acquisition of land by the Trident Group in Barnala district last year.
