Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, Dec 16 (UNI) DMK Deputy General Secretary and State Local Administration Minister M K Stalin has been a 'big draw' among youths at the Youth Wing Conference of the party being held at Medical College Grounds here today.
Mr Stalin's presidential address drew enthusiastic applause from party workers, particularly youths, who had converged at the venue.
A section of the partymen remained standing during the 55-minute address of their 'Thalapathi' (Commander) as Mr Stalin was fondly called by his supporters. Police had a tough time in controlling the crowd.
Speculation was rife among party workers following media reports on Chief Minister and DMK Patriarch M Karunanidhi formally announcing his son, Mr Stalin, as his political successor.
A DMK volunteer belonging to Cuddalore told UNI they came to attend the conference ''to know the mind'' of Mr Karunanidhi.
''We want Mr Stalin to be crowned at this conference,'' he added.
