Patan voters express ire over missing names

Patan, Gujarat, Dec 16 (UNI) Angry voters today besieged the Collector's office in the city, waving their voters identity cards and complaining that their names were missing from the electoral rolls.

Forty complaints have been received so far and officials are looking into it, district election officer Vinod Rao told UNI today.

Mr Rao said all protesting voters have been advised to contact the helpline to exercise their right.

In Patan district, polling till the mid-way period was around 25 per cent, while in Patan assembly segment, where state Education Minister Anandiben Patel is contesting, the polling was 28 per cent by noon.

Meanwhile, in Banaskanth due to severe cold, only 9.5 per cent voting was recorded till 1000 hrs now it had crossed 22 per cent, according to polling officials.
