Kohima, Dec 16 (UNI) Nagaland Progressive Alliance (NPA) leader I Imkong today lambasted the Neiphiu Rio-led DAN government and the Assembly Speaker for the latter's "malafide intention." The newly NPA continued its tirade against the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland after the No-Confidence motion was defeated in the state Assembly on Thursday last.
Mr Imkong, who is also the Opposition leader in the Assembly, in a statement here have said that the Speaker's action had been outrageous with malafide intentions to protect the DAN government.
''It was an unconstitutional, undemocratic and arbitrary action on the part of the Speaker not to count the votes of nine NPF MLAs, who voted in favour of No-Confidence Motion besides, not allowing three Independent MLAs to exercise their voting rights in the House,'' he lamented.
Mr Imkong, who is also the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), maintained that the Speaker had fraudulently announced the results of the No-Confidence Motion against Rio's ministry eclaring 23 members, who opposed the No Confidence Motion against 31 members who voted for the Motion.
The NPA has been formed by the members of Congress, JD(U), Independent and Nagaland Peoples' Front (NPF).
