Palanpur, Dec 16 (UNI) One dozen two-wheelers and two cars were set on fire by a mob in the Muslim-dominated Chhaparia locality of Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district today.

In Patan district the main contenders were Education minister Anandiben Patel(Patan), minister of state for agriculture Dilip Thakor(Sami) and well-known intellectual Jaynarayan Vyas(Siddhpur).

According to deputy collector Kishore Bacchani of Sabarkantha some localities in Himmatnagar recorded voting as high as 78 per cent.

In Mehsana however 60-65 per cent voting was reported.

In Palanpur about 1500 persons could not cast their votes as their names were missing from the voters list but the district collector Hareet Shukla pointed out that these persons photo ID cards were outdated and they might not have presented themselves during the last session when new cards were being made.

However the Congress MP Harisinh Chavda complained that the names were deliberately removed from the list because these voters belonged to the minority community who usually do not vote for chief minister Narendra Modi.
