Chandigarh , Dec 16 (UNI) As many as 1877 cases were settled in the Lok Adalats which were held today at Jind, Sirsa, Meham, Safidon and Narwana.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HALSA) disclosed that the cases settled in these Lok Adalats included 42 MACT cases pertaining to death or injury arising out of vehicular accidents wherein an amount of Rs 63,44,800 was awarded as compensation. In all, 1835 cases of other categories such as civil, petty criminal cases and bank loan cases pending and at pre-litigate stage were also settled.
He said that Special Lok Adalats for MACT cases were also held at Rohtak, Karnal, Sonepat, Jhajjar and Panipat. In these Special Lok Adalats 80 cases of MACT were settled pertaining to death or injury arising out of vehicular accidents wherein an amount of Rs.1,09,49,500 was awarded as compensation.
He said that Special Lok Adalats of Labour Cases were also held in all the Industrial Tribunals-cum-Labour Courts in the state. In these Special Lok Adalats 1104 cases were settled out of which 127 cases of labour disputes were settled by the Court of Mr J R Chauhan, Presiding Officer, Industrial Tribunal-cum-Labour Court, Faridabad.
Another 131 cases of labour disputes were settled with the active cooperation of Mr Jagbir Badhana, Representative of Management in the Industrial Tribunal-cum-Labour Courts, Fardiabad.
Rural Lok Adalats were also held at village Krishan Nagar (Narnaul), Khera (Siwani), Kaul (Kaithal) and Thol (Pehowa-Kurukshetra).
In these Rural Lok Adalats 421 cases were settled.
