Hundi for Jagannath temple set up at Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Dec 16 (UNI) State Minister for Law Biswa Bhusan Harichandan today said the Orissa government is considering the appointment of a Superintendent of Police for maintaing law and order in the 12th Century Jaganath temple at Puri.

Setting up a donation box (Hundi) for the temple and dedicating a new dynamic website (www.jagannath.nic.in) at the Sree Mandir Information centre at a function here, the Law Minister said the government has also decided to upgrade the police outpost infront of the temple to a Police Station and appoint required security personnel in it.

Mr Harichandan said devotees, including those coming from foreign countries, desiring to donate for the temple could donate through this Hundi.

The devotees could also watch various rituals including the famous carfestival through the website sitting at their homes.

The devotees could send flowers, Tulsi to the Jagannath temple, Puri and get Mahaprasad, clothes, wood and rope used during the carfestival which is considered to be holy, by placing an order through the information centre, he added.

State Information and Public Relations Minister Debasis Nayak, Chief administrator of Jagannath temple Suresh Mohapatra were among others present in the function.
