Srinagar, Dec 16 (UNI) The authorities in Kashmir have kept on sale more than four lakh poultry birds on discount prices ahead of the Eid-ul-Zuha on December 21, an official spokesman said today.
He said the chicken have been kept with the Animal Husbandry department for sale at 15 outlets.
The spokesman said a high-level meeting here reviewed the stock position of mutton and poultry in the Kashmir valley.
The authorities have instructed the officials to set up mobile poultry outlets on Eid for convenience of consumers, he added.
The spokesman further said a rebate of Rs 2 per kg has been announced on the poultry birds in view of the festival.
The department has established 15 sale outlets where sheep, goat and chicken would be available on last year rates only, he added.
According to an estimate, people in Kashmir consume more than 5000 sheep and goats and about 30,000 chicken on a normal day.
