New
Delhi,
Dec
16:
AICC
General
Secretary
Digvijay
Singh
has
filed
a
detailed
reply
to
the
Election
Commission,
which
served
notice
last
week
for
his
"Hindu
terrorism" remarks
in
Gujarat,
saying
that
he
had
not
uttered
those
words
and
was
quoted
incorrectly.
In his second response filed yesterday, he denied that he had breached the Model Code of Conduct. Mr Singh had filed his first reply to the Commission on Tuesday and sought two weeks time to file a detailed reply. The EC served notice on him on the basis of a report in a newspaper. Maintaining that he was speaking, during the campaign, in the context of the recent sting operation on the post-Godhra violence, he said "terrorism bears no colour, no race, no religion and no caste. All terrorism is bad without exception, be it Hindu, Muslim, Christian or any other kind of terrorism."
''...if the entire speech is considered holistically and objectively by the Commission, it would be crystal clear that I have not referred to or criticised any aspect of the private life of any BJP leader nor nor have I criticised or made allegations on unverified and distorted facts," Mr Singh said.
