Contractor bags Lifetime Achievement award at BCCI award ceremony

Mumbai, Dec 16 (UNI) Former India captain Nari Contractor was today honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awards ceremony.

Contractor received a cheque for Rs 15 lakh, the C K Nayudu Trophy and a citation for winning the Lifetime Achievement award in the presence of past and present Indian cricketers at a glittering ceremony here.

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar along with Rahul Dravid and India captain Anil Kumble were also feliciated with awards by the BCCI for their achievements.

Tendulkar received two awards, while Dravid and Kumble received one each.

Tendulkar got the Polly Umrigar Award for outstanding performance in International matches in the 2006-2007 season carrying a purse of Rs five lakh prize and a trophy, as well as a special tophy for reaching personal milestones of 11,000 and 15,000 runs in Tests and ODIs respectively.

Dravid was also felicitated with a special trophy for completing 10,000 runs in ODIs, while Kumble was felicitated and awarded a trophy for being appointed as captain of the Indian Test team and for completing 550 wickets in Tests.

Young Karnataka batsman Robin Uttappa and lanky Bengal pacer Ranadeb Bose each got Rs one lakh and the Madhavrao Scindia trophies for scoring the highest number of runs and taking the highest number of wickets respectively in the 2006-2007 domestic season.

The BCCI also recognised the achievements of women cricketers with the cricket board felicitating Jaya Sharma with the Chidambaram Trophy along with a purse of Rs 50,000 as the best woman cricketer.

All the awards were given away by BCCI president Sharad Pawar.

Harsha Bhogle was the master of ceremony.

The full list of award winners: Anju Jain and Anjum Chopra: Special Trophy for being awarded the Ajuna Awards in 2006 and 2007.

Jaya Sharma: Chidambaram Trophy and a purse of Rs 50,000 as the best woman cricketer.

Nari Contractor: Lifetime Achievement Award carrying a purse of Rs 15 lakh and the C K Nayudu Trophy.

Ajinkya Rahane: M A Chidambaram Trophy and Rs 50,000 as best u-19 cricketer.

Manoj Tewari: M A Chidambaram Trophy and Rs 50,000 as best u-22 cricketer.
