Congress complains against Anandiben for distributing sarees

Ahmedabad, Dec 16 (UNI) The Congress party has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against state Education Minister Anandiben Patel for distributing sarees in her Patan constituency, two days back.

A videographed proof of this episode was also submitted by the party in its complaint.

The party also has taken objection to the Minister performing 'maha aratis' in large groups.

Ms Patel, a close confidante of Chief Minister Narendra Modi is seeking re-election from Patan, and is pitted against Congress' old warhorse Kantilal Patel.

BJP dissident leaders Suresh Mehta, who has now quit the party, alongwith other supporters Vallabh Kataria and Vasant Gajera, brother of Dhiru Gajera, who contested on Congress ticket from Porbandar, has been seen camping in Patan, to make things difficult for Anandiben at the hustings.
