Ranchi, Dec 16 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today stressed the need to give impetus to the dairy industry, saying unemployment problem could also be addressed to a great extent.
Inaguarating a dairy centre as per centrally sponsored scheme here today, he said that presently state was producing 36 lakh litres of milk per day against its requirement of about 75 lakh litres everyday.
''We could meet our requirement if dairy is promoted as trade and the unemployed youths take it as an opportunity,'' Mr Koda opined.
''If youths adopt it as a trade and use their energy in this sector then we could fulfill our daily reqquirement and problem of unemployment would also be tackled'' the chief minister asserted.
He announced that state government is mooting a proposal to give a milch cow to the poor throughout the state and women would be given priority under the scheme.
The scheme is aimed to provide economic support to the poor, he added.
