Kendrapara, Dec 16 (UNI) Ten families in Chakradharpur village under Kurunti Gram panchayat in Rajnagar block are facing social restrictions for keeping relation with a family ostracised by the panch.
The villagers at a meeting decided not to allow the familes to enter the village temple, draw water from the village tube well and use the bathing ghat or even purchase grocery from the village shopkeepers.
Even the priests, washermen and barbers were asked by the village panch not to render their services to the families.
The head of the village had also announced to impose a fine if someone dared to violate the head of the village panch's order by mingling with these families.
The controversy begun after the Panch ostracised Sibarik's family as his son defied the panch's direction to marry a girl with whom he was in love and filed a case against the panch for forcing him to marry.
The ten families were socially boycotted after it was known that they had been in touch with the Siba Barik's family..
The ten families have sought the intervention of human rights commission and the district administration to solve the problem.
