UHBVN to minimise line losses through tech solutions

Chandigarh, Dec 15 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has started identification of ten feeders of 11 KV level in each operation circle with maximum line losses.

It has been planned to minimise the losses through technical solutions which include strengthening of distribution system that is setting up of new 33 KV substations at load centres, augmentation of existing substations, bifurcation/trifurcation of overloaded 11 KV level feeders, erection of higher size conductor and cement poles, construction of new lines, installation of small distribution transformers of 16 KVA and 25 KVA and implementation of high voltage distribution system.

An official spokesman said here today that under the managerialsolutions the Nigam has intensified the checking at consumer premises and recovered Rs 4.31 crore from the erring consumers in the cases of pilferae of power by the end of November this year. Penalty of Rs 9.06 crore had been imposed in these cases.

The checking teams detected 1725 cases of theft of electricity in Karnal, 1558 in operation circle Kurukshetra comprising Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts, 1392 in Panipat, 1312 in operation circle Rohtak comprising Rohtak and Jhajjar districts, 1243 in Sonipat, 1127 in Yamuna Nagar, 1041 in Jind and 320 in operation circle Ambala comprising Panchkula and Ambala districts.

He said that in most of the cases tampering of meters, drawl of electricity by direct tapping the lines and by passing the meter had been observed. The teams checked 109262 consumer connections from April to November this year against the annual target of 118900, he added.
