TNCSC to purchase paddy from farmers
Thanjavur, Dec 15 (UNI) With the increased price for paddy announced by the State Government a few days ago, the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation would purchase paddy from farmers.
TNCSC sources said the Corporation had fixed a target of 16.5 lakh tonnes of paddy to be procured from the samba paddy harvest season. It is expected to commence after Pongal, a major festival in the state.
TNCSC had opened 103 Direct Purchase Centres in Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts and more Centres would be opened as soon as the season commences, according to the requirements of the farmers.
In the Cauvery Delta districts, Samba and Thaladi paddy crops are cultivated on about ten lakh acres, the sources added.
