Speaker to decide on no-confidence against Koda on Dec 17
Ranchi, Dec 15 (UNI) The BJP-led Opposition in Jharkhand today sent a petition to Speaker Alamgir Alam seeking to move a no-confidence motion against UPA-backed Madhu Koda government.
Mr Alam informed the House of the proposed motion by Oppostion leader Arjun Munda and four others.
Altogether 33 members from the Opposition stood in favour of the motion, after which the Speaker said he would give his verdict on December 17.
Interestigly, former Home Minister Sudesh Mahto(AJSU), who was recently seen hobnobbing with the ruling group, however, was one among the 33 people supporting the proposal while former Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari (Ind) also supported the motion.
The ruling UPA government has a strangth of 42 members in the Assembly, including JMM(17), Cong(9) and RJD(7), while the Opposition has 39, including BJP(29) and JDU(5).
One seat now remaines vacant following the death of BJP's Upendra Nath Das.
