Optimise media influence over functioning of judiciary--CJI
Jodhpur, Dec 15 (UNI) Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan today said media role should be defined appropriately to restrict its influence over the functioning of the judiciary to a optimum extent.
Speaking at the two - day national law meet organised by the Bar Council of India here today, Justice Balakrishnan said the unlimited influence of media over the judicial functioning was liable to influence the judgements and therefore measures were needed to define limits for the media.
He said that strict laws were in place in countries like Britain and Australia for regulating and resticting media influence.
Union Law Minister Hansraj Bhardwaj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and several dignitaries spoke on the occasion.
