Patna, Dec 15 (UNI) The JD(U) today alleged that Union Railway Minister and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad was least concerned over the safety and security of the passengers as incidents of explosion in trains and at station premises were on rise during his tenure.
National spokesman of the party Shivanand Tiwari told reporters here that the Rajdhani Express, once considered as prestigious and safe for passengers, had now become vulnerable as five passengers were killed in bomb explosion in Dibrugarh-Delhi Rajdhani Express.
'' Altogether 326 passengers have been killed in explosions in various trains across the country during Mr Prasad's tenure, '' Mr Tiwari pointed out and alleged that he had even failed to provide basic amenities to the train passengers.
'' The catering facilities are not satisfactory in prestigious trains like Shatabdi and Rajdhani Express forcing the passengers to spend harrowing time during the journey, '' he stated.
Mr Tiwari accused the Raiway Minister of damaging the systems in the Railways like what he had done in Bihar during his regime and feared that the ministry would also face the worst in coming days if it was not allowed to get rid of Mr Prasad.
In the interests of train passengers, Mr Prasad should be removed from the Railway Ministry, he observed.
Taking light of Mr Prasad's claim of effecting a turnaround in the Railways, the JD (U) leader said it was the result of juggling of figures. During a training camp of IAS officers at IIM Ahmedabad, it came to light that turnaround process had well started during the tenure of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as Railway Minister, he added.
Mr Tiwari exuded confidence that the JD (U) would win by-elections to Bikramganj Lok Sabha seat as people were visibly satisfied with the performance of the Nitish Kumar government after its two years in office.
