KSRTC to roll out 1,000 new buses every year: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 15 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will roll out 1,000 new buses ever year.
Flagging of 20 new air-conditioned air buses of the KSRTC here, he said the funds for this would be taken from financial institutions providing government guarantee.
Pointing out that the Corporation was on a renovation drive, he said half the income of KSRTC was being spent for fuel. The Corporation had saved a sum of Rs 15 crore by improving fuel efficiency.
Mr Achuthanandan expressed the confidence that with such measures and wiping out corruption, it could be possible to reduce the losses and make a profitable institution.
As part of the effort to rescue the Corporation from financial crisis, the government had taken up various measures, including rolling out new air-conditioned buses in the inter-state routes, the Chief Minister added.
