Uttar Pradesh: Four-lane hits roadblock
Moradabad,
Dec
15:
The
construction
of
four-lane
between
Gajraula
and
Moradabad
on
the
Delhi-Lucknow
national
highway
has
hit
another
roadblock.
The Ajmer Sharif Dargah Committee has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding the broadening of road for the proposed four-lane should not be done at the cost of damaging a dargah and a mosque in Rajabpur here.
Instead, a bypass be contructed to connect the four-lane without damging the places of worship.
The letter was written by Committee member Peerzada Shivli Kasim.
He has also written letters to Union Minister for Surface Transport T R Balu and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in this regard.
Mr Kasim said dismantling of any place of worship would hurt communal harmony and unity.
Official sources said the work on the four-lane was progressing at a snail's pace due to several roadblocks. The dargah and the mosque are the latest in this series.
