Five killed in suicide attack at Pak Army base
Islamabad, Dec 15: At least two soldiers and three civilians were killed and several others were injured following a suicide attack in the Naushehra Cantonment in Pakistan"s North West frontier Province on Saturday morning.
According to reports, a suicide bomber blew himself up at the gate of the ASC centre of the Naushehra Cantonment. The bomber, who was on a bicycle, detonated his bomb at the checkpoint. The attack came hours before President Pervez Musharraf is due to lift the state of the emergency in the country.
Musharraf is due to address the nation on TV and radio on Saturday evening. The death toll from suicide bomb blast is likely to increase, as the injured people have been rushed to hospital. Security forces have cordoned off the area, The News reported.
The army has been frequently targeted in suicide attacks since July, when Musharraf ordered troops to raid the radical Lal Masjid in Islamabad that had been occupied by militants.
