Fake stamp paper kingpin telgi convicted to rigorous imprisonment

Bangalore, Dec 15 (UNI) Special Judge for Fake Stamp Paper cases C G Hungund today convicted fake stamp paper kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi and his two associates to rigorous imprisonment of five years and slapped a fine of Rs 4.5 lakh in multi-crore fake stamp paper scam.

Justice Hungund also sentenced P G Pradeep Kumar to one year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 for his involvement in setting up of three fictitious companies dealing with capital market.

The fictitious companies which were involved in fake embssing of the share certificates were Citizen Enterprises, Unique Services, and Cauvery Enterprises for trading in fake stamp paper with HMT Ltd in the city in 2004.

The criminal case was registered against the four accused for offences of criminal conspiracy, counterfeiting of government stamps for the purpose of sale.

The court acquitted three others in the case.
