Lucknow, Dec 15 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Congress today observed 'sadbuddhi (better sense) diwas' following lodging of FIR against a BSP leader for his alleged remarks against Mahatma Gandhi.

The state Congress had been demanding lodging of FIR against state Khadi Board chairman Daya Ram Sen for his alleged insulting remarks against the Mahatma last month in Ferozabad during an official programme. To press for lodging of FIR against Sen, Congress had organised a dharna outside Shikohabad police station in Ferozabad recently where AICC general secretary in charge of UP affairs Digvijay Singh and UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi had courted arrest.

Congress had threatened another dharna at Ferozabad today if police failed to lodge FIR. Since the FIR was lodged on November 11, the party decided to observe today as 'sadbuddhi diwas'.

''Since better sense prevailed on the Mayawati government as it lodged the FIR, we are observing today as 'sadbuddhi diwas,'' said former minister Ramkrishna Dwivedi while addressing a gathering of party workers at Patel Pratima in the heart of the city.
