Chandigarh, Dec 15 (UNI) The Chandigarh Administration has decided to disconnect power connections of all 30,000 defaulters who have not paid their electricity bills for the long time. This was stated in a press release of the Administration here tonight.

The release said that an amount of Rs 26 crore is outstanding against these defaulters and most of them have not paid their dues inspite of notices served to them.

Taking a serious note of the outstanding amount and the fact that the defaulters enjoy the benefit of electricity at the cost of other consumers, it was decided to disconnect electricity supply to all defaulter premises, if dues are not cleared in 15 days Major defaulters included JJ colony dwellers / bulk supply contractors (Rs 7 cr.), Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat (Rs 80 Lakh), Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (Rs 51 Lakh), Superintendent of Police (CID) Punjab (Rs 23 Lakh), Mr. Burger, Sector 17 (Rs 16 lakh), and Second Foundation, Industrial Area (Rs.4 Lakh).
