BJP moves EC against Rahul for violation of model code of conduct
Vadodara, Dec 15 (UNI) The BJP has moved the Election Commission against AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi for allegedly violating the model code of conduct during his 35-km roadshow in the city yesterday.
According to BJP's central Gujarat media in charge and former city president Sabdasaran Brahmabhatt, three separate complaints had been filed before the Election Commission, by the district returning officer and the police commissioner against Mr Gandhi, who allegedly used a fleet of large number of vehicles for the roadshow as against the permissible number of three vehicles.
They also alleged that Congress workers used DJ music system without prior police permission to welcome Mr Gandhi.
When asked, Congress observer for Vadodara Sanjay Nirupam dismissed the allegations as baseless, saying he had no idea about the vehicles chasing Mr Gandhi's caravan but the party had not violated the model code of conduct.
Local Congress supporters welcoming Mr Gandhi must have taken permission from the district authorities to use the DJ system, he added.
