Mayawati bid to make inroads in Gujarat
Ahmedabad, Dec 14 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati today said the party's doors were open for those leaders, who felt neglected or ignored by their respective parties.
''In a secular country, it is wrong to do politics on basis of religion or caste. We will work with all castes and classes,'' she said.
Campaigning for the second phase of Gujarat elections at Bodeli and Ahmedabad, she said her party wanted to give more rights to the poor and the downtrodden. ''We are not against any religion, we treat all people equally''.
BSP drew a blank in Gujarat in the 2002 assembly elections and 2004 Lok Sabha elections. This time, the party is making a determined bid to open its account.
The party is contesting 166 seats in the state.
