Lok Ayukta official laments delay in empowerment
Madikeri, Karnataka, Dec 14 (UNI) Karnataka Lok Ayukta Director (Health) Dr R Balasubramanyam has lamented that delay in giving more teeth to Lok Ayukta has prevented it from taking action against corrupt IAS and IFS officers.
Addressing 'Spandana' programme organised by the Virajpet Journalists Association yesterday, he said the Bill passed by the previous Kumaraswamy Government to accord more power to Lok Ayukta was pending before the Governor. ''The delay in empowering Lok Ayukta is holding it back from taking action against corrupt officials,'' he further added.
Dr Balasubramanyam said corruption could be rooted out only with the joint effort of the public and Lok Ayukta.
He said the media could publish Lok Ayukta reports by securing the same through the Right to Information Act. ''Press and Lok Ayukta should act together to cleanse the society,'' he added.
