Mumbai, Dec 14 (UNI) Thirty-four children from the city-based Chabildas Bai School were admitted to the KEM Hospital after they complained of vomiting and nausea following consumption of milk provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Civic officials said the children from the Chabildas Bai Municipal Secondary School in Dadar complained of vomiting and abdominal pain after consuming the scented milk given to them after their mid-day meals.

BMC Commissioner Jairaj Phatak, while speaking to reporters, said, ''More than 100 children consumed the milk, out of which 34 have been hospitalised. An inquiry will be conducted into the incident and samples of milk will be sent for analysis.'' Mr Phatak, however, surmised that milk consumption may not have led to the sudden illness among the children since all other children too had consumed milk from the same stock. But, the corporation will not take any chances and punish the guilty, he said.

The children, who have been admitted to the hospital, are aged between 13 and 16. There are ten girls among those admitted.
