'10+4', 'XXY' share Swarna Chakoram in IFFK 2007

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 14 (UNI) Iranian Film '10+4' and Spanish film 'XXY' today shared the Swarna Chakoram (Golden Crow Pheasant), the top award of the 12th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which concluded here this evening.

Mania Akbari, the Director of 10+4 bagged the 'Rajata Chakoram' (Silver Crow Pheasant) award for the best Director.

The Rajata Chakoram (Silver Crow Pheasant) award for the debutant Director went to Lucia Puenzo for her film XXY.

The 'Sleepwalking Land' directed by Terra Sonambula bagged the Federation of International Film Critics' (FIPRESCI) prize. The NETPAC award for the best Asian film was given to 'Getting Home' directed by Lou Ye Gui Gen and 'Ore Kadal' (The Sea Within) by Shyamaprasad bagged the FIPRESCI prize in the Malayalam section.

Ore Kadal also bagged the prize for best Malayalam film.

10+4 and XXY would share the Rs 10 lakh prize money for the Swarna Chakoram while the Rajata Chakoram would carry a cash prize of Rs three lakh. The Rajata Chakoram for the best debut Director would get a cash prize of Rs two lakh.

The competition section had more than 150 entries, of which 14 were shortlisted for screening at the festival. The jury included its Chairman Iranian Director Jafar Panahi, Script Writer and Director Agneiszka Holland, Actress Naky Sy Savane and Actor Nasserudin Shah.

Indian movie 'Four Women' by Adoor Gopalakrishnan was also included in the competition.

The FIPRESCI jury consisted of film writers and critics Sheila Johnston, Cuneyt Cebenoyan and Anand Varala while NETPEC jury had Anne Demy Geroe and Jocelyn Saab.
