Bangalore, Dec 13 (UNI) Spice Telcom, Karnataka's premium and innovative service provider of cellular mobile telephony services, today launched 'Spice Local Lingo', a messaging service in 12 Indian languages.
Company's Brand Ambassador Bollywood Star Priyanka Chopra launched the service at a colourful function in the city today.
This services could be downloaded on all Java-enabled phones. It allows customers a choice of Hindi, Kannada, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarathi, Bengali and Urdu messaging service.
Speaking on the occasion, Spice Telecom CEO Navin Kaul said the new SMS service would help customers who believe that communicating in one's mother tongue was much convenient and lot of fun as it enabled a person to be more expressive.
Spice Karnataka COO Rakesh Singh said the launch of 'Local Lingo' was a key step to connect with the diverse Indian audience and further enhance Spice users experience using native languages.
Downloading the service could be done with a GPRS connection from Spice Portal http://wap.spicetele.com or through SMS using the keyword 'SLL' to 56199 and get the URL for download.
The service had a language specific soft keypad and a message edit box, where the user could compose message and send it both as normal text SMS or a picture-SMS for users who do not have Spice Local Lingo.
The service charges could be downloaded at one time download charge of Rs 20 per language plus a monthly subscription of Rs five per language. As an inaugural offer, SMS charges would cost just 50 paise per message.
