Mumbai, Dec 13 (UNI) Rajeev Jyoti, Managing Director of Bombardier Transportation India, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Railways Equipment Division.
According to a release issued here, CII has various industry specific sector bodies, one of which is the Railways Equipment Division which deals with all issues relating to railway equipment manufacturers.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Jyoti said, ''This is an honour for me and I am glad to be able to contribute to the sector through this CII initiative. I look forward to exploring the opportunities within the Indian industry for the railway sector and promoting the great progress made by key players in the last few years.'' Bombardier Transportation (BT), India has recently been awarded the DMRC Phase 2 contract for 340 MOVIA Metro Cars valued at US$ 590 million, the majority of which will be manufactured and produced in India . As a result of this contract, the company is setting up a manufacturing site at Savli, Gujarat where it will employ more than 500 people. More recently BT has also received a Signalling contract valued at US$ 43 million for Delhi Metro.
As the Managing Director of Bombardier Transportation in India he is responsible for country operations of businesses like propulsion and control, signalling, service and mass transit projects and long range strategic planning. He maintains relations at the highest level with Indian Railways, Urban Authorities for Mass Transit requirements, Industry and Government of India for policy matters, the release further added.
