Potable water is top priority in MP areas
Bhopal, Dec 12 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today directed that availability of potable water be accorded foremost priority in view of a grave water crisis in several areas, official sources said.
While video-conferencing with divisional commissioners and collectors, Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni told top officials of the divisions and districts concerned to prepare an action plan right away. Mr Sahni said that other use of water should be prohibited in the affected areas.
A few districts of Bundelkhand, Gwalior and Chambal regions are severely hit and some places are being supplied with water only twice a week.
On a positive note, the Tikamgarh collector said that water was being released from Uttar Pradesh's Lalitpur dam. Chhatarpur district, which has a month's reserve, was sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for transporting water.
