Chandigarh, Dec 13 (UNI) The Punjab government has decided to come out with a futuristic and broad based policy for allowing new nursing colleges in the state to increase employment of girls in the profession.
The state government would not process any file of new nursing institution hence forth till the new policy was drafted and approved at competent level, Medical Education and Research Minister Tikshan Sud said here today.
Mr Sud said that Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Chandigarh had been assigned the task for conducting a study about the requirements of nursing courses namely ANM, GNM, BSc Nursing, BSc (Post Basic), MSc, Nursing and Physiotherapy etc so that new policy could be drafted according to the new requirements.
He said that the study would also concentrate on the requirement of trained nurses in Punjab and also study the pattern of absorption of nurses in Punjab, out side Punjab and foreign countries.
The Minister said that the Institute had been asked to suggest, the requirement in each district of the state, keeping in view the education standard that will provide institutional support for running these medical institutions.
