IIT Bombay designated as 'Knowledge Heritage Centre'

Mumbai, Dec 13: On the occassion of The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) Golden Jubilee, it will be designated as a ''Knowledge Heritage Centre'' by UNESCO, stated a release issued here yesterday.

The designation will be conferred on December 12th in recognition of the institution's contribution in creating a knowledge society and its rich knowledge heritage at a signing ceremony in New Delhi. Ms Minja Yang, Director, UNESCO New Delhi, and Prof Ashok Misra, Director, IITB will be present at the ceremony. ''IIT-B was originally established with the cooperation and participation of UNESCO, and over the past 50 years it has grown in stature as an institution of national importance and a leader in higher education, research and training'', said Ms Yang.
