Chandigarh, Dec 13 (UNI) The Haryana government is providing an opportunity to those who might have been left out of draft lists of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

State Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Rural Development) Urvashi Gulati today appealed to all those persons who have a grievance against the draft lists of BPL families to avail themselves of the opportunity of the two-stage appeals so as to get their grievances redressed.

She said any person having a grievance against the non-inclusion of his name or inclusion of ineligible persons in the BPL lists, had the right to file an appeal before the Sub Divisional Magistrate or Tehsildar within a period of 30 days from the date of approval of the draft BPL lists by the Gram Sabha concerned.

Ms Gulati said these appeals would be disposed of by the Sub Divisional Magistrate or Tehsildar concerned within 10 days. ''If someone is still aggrieved with the decision of the first appeal, a second appeal can also be filed before the Deputy Commissioner concerned within 30 days of the decision of the first appeal.'' After completion of the two stage appeals, the final BPL lists would be drawn and the names of the eligible households would be included in the BPL lists and those of the ineligible ones would be deleted.

She said the BPL list would be updated on a continuous basis to ensure inclusion of eligible families and exclusion of non eligible families.

She said as per guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Rural Development, a survey of all rural households was conducted in Haryana in the year 2007 to prepare a draft list of BPL families, which was now being placed before Gram Sabhas for inviting claims from eligible and objections from ineligible families.
