Hyderabad, Dec 13 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked the Chief Secretary to issue advisory to Universities, State Public Sector Undertakings and Board of Intermediate Education to implement GO 610 in letter and spirit.

Reviewing the implementation of GO 610 with House Committee Chairman Uttam Kumar Reddy and senior officials here, he said it was the decision of his Government that GO 610 should be strictly implemented and its ambit extended to PSUs and other Government wings not coming under the purview of Presidential orders.

The Chief Minister also directed that educational and other relaxations could be given to recruitment of local people to the police department so that the non-locals could be immediately repatriated to their respective zones. No time should be lost on issuing orders and repatriating non-locals from all departments immediately, a statement here said.

In all, 15,275 non-local employees have been identified as on date, of which 6,697 employees were given repatriation orders.

The Presidential orders, issued in 1975, were applicable to about 5,12,300 State Government employees only, but the State Government had included Corporations, Universities and contract and outsourcing sectors also in its ambit, increasing the number of people affected to more than 11 lakh employees.

Dr Reddy directed the Home department to take up recruitment of 2,700 police officers exclusively with locals. Local ex-servicemen should be given preference in police recruitment.

Noting that some of the repatriated employees were going to the Tribunal, the Chief Minister directed the officials to take appropriate legal steps in this regard. He reiterated his earlier directions to implement the Presidential Orders in all the non-judicial posts in all lower courts.

The exemption from GO 610 had been given to all spouse cases and recruitment to Andhra Pradesh Special Police Battalions.

Chief Secretary J Harinarayan, Principal Secretary Vijay Kumar and Secretary (Services) Krishnaiah were present in the meeting.
