Fit lightning conductor on govt buildings directs J'khand HC

Ranchi, Dec 13 (UNI) Jharkhand High Court today directed the state government to fit lightning conductor on every schools, government buildings and public places in three months.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagyavinayagam and Justice D K Sinha passed the order while hearing a Public Interest Litigation court of its own motion.

The court took action on various media reports which stated that about six school children died in a school at Namkom area in the state capital due to lightening.

Mr V P Singh was made amicus-curie in the case.

The court further directed the state government to grant a fund of Rs 1.5 crore to Birla Institute of Technology and Rs 1.5 crore to Birsa Agriculture University to conduct a research on how to save the citizens of Jharkhand from thunder and lightening. The court has given three weeks to grant fund to both the universities.

As per the earlier order of the court Mr S B Gadodia appearing on behalf of the state government also submitted a report in this regard.
