BSPCB approved as nodal agency for pollution control by CDM

Patna, Dec 13 (UNI) Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB) has been declared the nodal agency for Clean Development Mechanism(CDM) to check pollution in the state.

According to a BSPCB release, CDM was approved by the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) and will shortlist five projects where alternate fuel could be used to check the presence of carbondioxide in the atmosphere.Project Design Document and Project Concept Note for the projects would be completed by March 2008.

Some of the prominent units which were surveyed for pollution control by BSPCB include Patna Dairy Project, cold storages and Hydro-electric projects.

Incidentally, the UN has asked both the industrially developed and developing nations to implement the Kyoto Protocol by successfully reducing greenhouse gases between 2008-2012 adding the emission should be at the 1990 level.
