Mumbai, Dec 13 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Minority Morcha activists staged a protest against the Central Haj Committee at the Haj House here today, for allegedly denying the pilgrimage opportunity to 1,123 applicants from across the country.

Demanding that all the applicants who had been issued both visa and passport by the Haj Committee in anticipation of the cancellations by some confirmed applicants be allowed to visit the holy cities of Mecca and Medinah for the annual ritual, the Morcha urged the Committee Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Owais, to make a suitable strategy and help the applicants get their names confirmed at the higest political level.

Further stating that nepotism and favouritism was done in the selection of the representatives for the Haj Goodwill Delegation, the Morcha alleged that Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahmed, had made the delegation a household affair as most of his family members were part of it.

''We demand a CBI inquiry into the whole issue,'' Morcha Mumbai unit president S Hyder Azam said while addressing the activists.
