Mahoba, Dec 13 (UNI) A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation today visited the impoverished Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh to take stock of the poverty, drought and alleged starvation there.

The delegation led by BJP legislative party leader and former state minister Om Prakash Singh today visited six villages of Mahoba district.

''To control the situation from worsening, the government should immediately provide free foodgrain, drinking water to the people in the Vindhya region. The government should also facilitate the marriage of farmers' daughters and waive off their debts,'' Mr Singh later told mediapersons.

The state government has not even provided ordinary assistance to the Bundelkhand region, he lamented.

Food and drinking water situation would worsen after February, if no steps were taken on time, the delegation observed.

People were migrating to other places in search of work...even Antodaya and Annapurna card holders were not getting ration, the delegation alleged.
