Bangalore, Dec 12 (UNI) Injured Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik today said that there is an urgent need for Pakistan players to give attention on physical fitness.
Speaking to reporters after the third and final Test match which was called off due to bad light, he said that ''during the series, injury caused a great concern and there is a need to give urgent attention in this respect as the series against Zimbabwe and Australia are round the corner.'' Replying to a question, he said that ''it would not be correct to say that weather helped the team from being defeated. Our boys played very well in this match and piled up more than 500 runs against India's first innings' total of 626 and in the second innings also they were playing well when the match was called off.'' ''Team has performed well during the series, especially after Delhi Test. Misbulah-ul-Haq and Kaneria were in good form both in Kolkata and Bangalore'', he added.
Malik though refused to comment on Kumble's decision over the declaration saying that ''I would have consulted my senior and drawn a plan.'' He was happy with the team's over all performance and declined any need for a change in the team.''We have a good trainer and the boys have also performed well. May be injury caused a few concerns, but performance wise it was good'', he added.
