Tata's small car project is on scheduled: Ramkishnan

Jaipur, Dec 12 (UNI) Tata Motors has said its samll car project is on schedule, irrespective of the delay due to the raging controversy over land aquisition for the project at Singur in West Bengal.

Company Head (Sales and Marketing-Medium and Heavy Trucks) R Ramakrishnan, while talking to UNI, said the project is on schedule.

He was here for the launch of its latest Tata LPS 4923 tractor-trailer.

On being asked when the much awaited Rs one lakh small car will hit the market, he said, ''we have not yet re-scheduled the launch.

The project is on schedule.'' Talking about the viability and security aspects of the car raised by Suzuki Motors, its competitor in this segment in the country, Mr Ramakrishnan said, ''we are following all the norms and regulations applicable to the small car as per the Motor Vehicles Act. Everybody is free to have an opinion.'' Tatas have conducted the Bhoomi poojan for the project at Singur in Hoogly district on January 21 this year for its ambitious project amidst stiff opposition from the farmers over acquisition of their land by the government for the project.
