Senior National Volleyball from Dec 23

Jaipur, Dec 12 Dec (UNI) After a gap of 40-year Senior National Volleyball Championship (men and women) will be held here from December 23 to January 1.

Defending champion Indian Railways (both section) and runners up Kerela (both section) would figure in the championship.

Organising committee chairman and Sports Minister Yunus Khan told the newsmen that 900-player the country would be seen in action.

As many as 30 and 29-team are expected to take part in the men and women section respectively. All arjuna awardee, dronacharya and dyanchand awardee would expected here during the championship.

He said that the matches would talecast live on Doordarshan from pre-quarterfinal stage.

Rajasthan had organised the senior national volleyball championship in year of 1967-68 at lake city Udaipur. Rajasthan had reached in the quarterfinal in the last championship at Raipur while women team could not qualify league.

Rajasthan team preparatory camp has been organising at the Rajasthan university. Jainarayan is the women team while RP Tailor women team coach.

He said the matches would be played under floodlights.
