New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) Reacting to the Supreme Court decision to issue notice to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks justifying the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a fake encounter, the Congress today said the highest court of the land would deal suitably with him for the "offences he has committed." "We are sure the law of the land will take its own course for his (Mr Modi's) blatant and unconstitutional utterances on Sohrabuddin." She said the party was sure that the people of Gujarat would also give a "fitting reply" to Mr Modi, throwing him into political exile.

On the one hand, there was contempt of court proceedings in the Supreme Court against Mr Modi and on the other, there was a petition pending before the Election Commission. "We are also aware of strictures passed by various courts against Mr Modi and the government." Ms Natarajan said the Congress had all along been saying that "this is a man whose government is run in a fascist manner...who does not respect any constitutional authority...who is leading a state sponsored carnage and rioting." She said Mr Modi had no practice of decency in public utterances.
