New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) The Supreme Court today told the petitioners opposing narco-analysis test carried out by police during investigation to ascertain the truth, that police will resort to third degree methods and may also go to the extent of killing an accused or an undertrial in a fake encounter if scientific methods of investigations are opposed.

The observations were made by a bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices R V Raveendran and J M Panchal during the hearing of batch of petitions filed by Selvi and others seeking directions to the investigating agencies not to carry out tests like narco-analysis.

Intoxicating drugs are administered to the accused while carrying out such tests which are dangerous and under the influence of such drugs sometimes, the accused reveals personal things which in his senses he will never reveal to anybody.

Therefore, it is virtually an attack on the privacy of a person.

The hearing will continue after vacations in January next year.
